Bertrand Porte

Representative, École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

 

Mr Bertrand Porte is Sculpture Conservator and Representative of the École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He graduated from the École supérieure des Beaux-arts in Tours with expertise in sculpture conservation and restoration. He worked as a freelance conservator-restorer with assignments in Paris and several other regions in France, and was technical advisor to several French National and Regional Collections of Contemporary Art. Since 1997, he has been manager of the sculpture conservation workshop at the National Museum of Cambodia (NMC), in partnership with the EFEO. The main tasks of the workshop are conserving and restoring sculptures from the NMC, museums and provincial collections; providing training in conservation-restoration of sculptures; documenting and researching the collections; organizing exhibitions; and supporting other conservation-restoration projects in Vietnam and Laos.
